My Birthday Girl, a Watercolour Portrait of my Daughter and a process video

On my journey to learning watercolour, and while last week was my daughter’s birthday, I thought I would have a go at painting a portrait of her to surprise her, pleasantly I hope!

My concept was to paint a dual toned portrait of her to keep things simple and focus on continuing to sharpen my eye for values rather than colour.

I also made a process video which I’ve had ready for a while now but what with all the wildfires in Greece devastating the country I didn’t really feel in the mood to post anything. Anyway, here we are… I’m still learning watercolor portraiture and it’s a lot of fun. I’m also getting better at just accepting where I am, making mistakes and learning from them and simply enjoying the process. I hope you enjoy!

all my best, Lenochka xx

my favorite watercolour paints

I love bright, luscious colours and Sennelier L’Aquarelle honey-based tube watercolours are just yummy! Absolutely my favourite watercolours this was what I bought to begin with and is a great way to get started with these. This starter/test box of 5 colours is all you need to get started.
